Pet grooming and a Rock-a-Thon

Three churches in Buncombe County have participated in Operation Inasmuch in years past, but this year 22 churches are onboard, according to county coordinator Norma Melton. Reed Memorial Baptist in Asheville will offer free pet grooming to residents in an apartment complex who have disabilities. Victory Baptist in Asheville will host a Rock-a-Thon and church members will support children to rock in rocking chairs. Sponsors will give the children diapers and formula to deliver to a family in need or to a local family agency. At Biltmore Square Mall North Carolina Baptists will sing and give out meal tickets to mall employees. Mall management has been so receptive to the idea they asked churches to come back during the Christmas holidays to provide free gift-wrapping. A volunteer team will also be stationed at the local interstate rest area to minister to travelers. For more information about opportunities in Buncombe County, contact Melton at (828) 252-1864.

  1. One of the best outreach programs I have seen at Reed Memorial in many years.

Awesome turn out from the church membership and projects included hand outs at the local laundramat, roof repairs, gutter repairs, lawn care, house cleaning, car washing, local school fence project, meals for elderly, blood pressure check, pillows being made for brest cancer patients, blankets for the local neo-natal unit at the hospital, prayer teams, support services for the teams out working and so forth.

God Blessed the community and the church from taking part in this program.

Our leader, Veryce English, was certainly being led by Christ as she gave our program direction.
